Laura is a native of Albia, graduating from Albia Community High School in 1994 and Indian Hills Community College in 1996 from Computer Systems/Networks. Laura and her husband, Mark, returned to Albia in 2011 with their 3 children; Max, Megan and Morgan. Laura is an active volunteer in the community as a member of a catholic church, Albia Booster Club, Albia Rotary Club, Albia Trails Committee and Welcome Home Soldier Board Member.
